These are a series of less-serious blog entries about books that I read. Occasionally, I might decide that a book is a good enough read that spur me to write something about it, or interject with my own opinions and add on to the author’s insights.

As a personal goal, I intend to read one book every month, with a 0.5 probability of this goal being successful each month.


  • Review - Collapse: How societies choose to fail or survive

    It would appear that I am just as talented at complaining as I am at picking a time to start a book, because I really should begin by making the Singaporean-esque complaint that the recent weather is all too hot. It’s not just me, though: equatorial temperatures, soaring humidity levels and the urban heat island effect pits me against the unforgiving sun.

  • Review - This Book Will Make You Kinder: An Empathy Handbook

    This book couldn’t have been more timely, in terms of its relevance in the happenings around the world, and also in terms of when I got my hands on it: fresh off the shelves at Kinokuniya! I probably wouldn’t have gotten this book if not for the warm hug from this book’s cover, and since I’m a sucker for clever designs and colors, there’s no way I’d give this a pass. I digress.
